PULL UP A CHAIR, NEIGHBOR
Some conversations are too important to keep quiet.
Real stories. Plain-language education. A community looking out for one another.
From Medicaid Estate Recovery to caregiving, family planning, and protecting your legacy, we’re making the hard conversations easier to understand, one porch talk at a time.
WHY WE GATHER
Because knowing matters.
From My Porch to Yours began with one question: why do so many families learn about Medicaid Estate Recovery only after losing someone they love? That question opened the door to bigger conversations about planning, caregiving, legacy, and protecting the people who matter most.
- Plain languageNo legal jargon without an explanation.
- Sources you can checkOfficial links and the date we checked them.
- Room for your storyReal families, real questions, no judgment.

SEASON 1 · THE STORY THAT STARTED THE PORCH
Grandma's porch, and the letter nobody expected.
Our first season is a family story told in parts: caring for a great grandmother, the paperwork that came after, and what Medicaid Estate Recovery meant for the people she left behind.
Each story post is paired with a Hard Conversations explainer, so you can walk away with the questions to ask in your own family.
HARD CONVERSATIONS
The talks families put off,
made a little easier.
Every Season 1 story post comes with a Hard Conversations explainer: what happened, what it means, and the questions to ask in your own family before you need the answers.

MEET THE WRITER
Hi, neighbor. I'm Keila Ke.
This porch grew out of my own family's experience with Medicaid Estate Recovery. I learned the hard way how much families are expected to understand, and how little anyone explains.
I'm not here as a lawyer. I'm here as a family member who did the reading, asked the questions, and wants you to have a softer place to start.
